| Veterans Day Program - November 11 |
|
Waller School proudly welcomes you to our Veterans Day Program on Tuesday, November 11th, as we honor the brave men and women who have served our country. If you have a veteran you would like us to recognize, we would love to include their photo in our tribute. Please email your photo to Mrs. Schue at lschue@basd.k12.wi.us. If you shared a photo last year, we will gladly reuse it—just send Mrs. Schue a quick email to confirm. Be sure to include the veteran’s branch of service and the student’s name and relationship to the veteran. Our honored guests are invited to join the Waller Ambassadors in the cafeteria for treats and conversation at 1:30 p.m., followed by our schoolwide program in the gymnasium at 2:10 p.m. In addition, Waller School will be raising funds this year for the Union Grove Veterans Home through a fun “Change Challenge.” Starting next week, students can bring in spare change from home to support our veterans. The first floor will compete against the second floor to see which group can collect the most!
We look forward to celebrating, honoring, and supporting our veterans together. Thank you for helping us make this a meaningful day of appreciation.

| Ambassador Club Used Book Sale |
|

HERE IS A CHANCE TO DO SOME CLEANING AND GET RID OF THOSE OLD BOOKS COLLECTING DUST!!!
The 4th Grade Ambassador Club will be hosting their Annual Used Book Sale on Wednesday, November 19th during the afternoon in the gym. All students and teachers are invited to bring in AGE APPROPRIATE USED BOOKS to donate to the sale. Students will earn one free book coupon for every 5 books they donate. All other books will cost 25 cents at the sale!
Students and staff who would like to donate books should bring them to Mrs. Hoffman’s office November 3rd-November 18th. Please leave your name on your stack of books or on the bag if Mrs. Hoffman is not in her office so she knows who to give the coupons to. Each class will have a chance to visit the Book Sale during the afternoon of the 19th to buy books or use their coupons.
Every year we are amazed by the quality of books that are donated. Students will be able to buy some great books at a VERY cheap price.

| Colder Weather Has Arrived |
|
DO I NEED A JACKET OR A COAT FOR RECESS…
Wisconsin weather will have its ups and downs!
This is the guideline that we follow here at school:
0 - 40 degrees: Definitely wear a jacket! You will probably want hats, and gloves too!
When it's snowy, you will need boots and snow-pants to play in the snow, otherwise it will be "Black Top Only"
When it's muddy, it will be "Black Top Only" for all students.
40 - 50 degrees: Jackets or sweatshirts are needed. As it gets close to 50 - feel free to unzip them if you are playing and get a little warm.
50 - 60 degrees: Jackets or sweatshirts may be needed. They can be removed and tied around your waist if you get sweaty while playing. Hats may or may not be needed depending on the weather and wind. Once again, things can get muddy in these temperatures. Boots may be required to go into the wood chips, or if it is too muddy, it will become a Blacktop Only Day.
60 - 70 degrees: No jackets are required (but it is entirely up to you if you would like a lightweight one, especially if it is cloudy or windy). Once again, you can always tie it around your waist. You won't be allowed back into school for it if you're cold.
When in doubt, bring it out!
70 degrees: Enjoy the fresh air!
We do not go outside if the temperature or the wind chill is 0 or below.
Boots and Snow Pants are required to play in the snowy areas - if you do not have both of these it will be black top only for the kids without their gear.
This applies to all ages.
