| Veterans Day Program - November 11 |
|
Waller School proudly welcomes you to our Veterans Day Program on Tuesday, November 11th, as we honor the brave men and women who have served our country. If you have a veteran you would like us to recognize, we would love to include their photo in our tribute. Please email your photo to Mrs. Schue at lschue@basd.k12.wi.us. If you shared a photo last year, we will gladly reuse it—just send Mrs. Schue a quick email to confirm. Be sure to include the veteran’s branch of service and the student’s name and relationship to the veteran. Our honored guests are invited to join the Waller Ambassadors in the cafeteria for treats and conversation at 1:30 p.m., followed by our schoolwide program in the gymnasium at 2:10 p.m. We look forward to celebrating, honoring, and supporting our veterans together. Thank you for helping us make this a meaningful day of appreciation.

The second grade class had the opportunity to visit the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center last Friday! They participated in a program called “Water: Can’t Live Without It”, where they learned all about the water cycle and conducted several hands-on experiments. The students also enjoyed a scenic hike and explored the shores of Lake Michigan. It was a great day for discovering wetlands, enjoying the outdoors, and having fun in nature! 💧🌳
The third grade class took a wonderful trip to the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra this past Thursday to experience the performance “Musical Zoo.” The orchestra, joined by Danceworks MKE, brought to life the animals from Saint-Saëns’ “Carnival of the Animals.” 🎻 🎵 Fun Fact:The narrator, James LaBelle, is a BHS graduate! Mr. LaBelle recently retired from his career as a radio personality and now enjoys performing in various productions. The students had a fantastic time experiencing live music and dance!

| Youth Mental Health Resource Fair - November 13th |
|

Through a collaboration between Racine County Public Health, Burlington Area School District, and NAMI Racine County, we are holding our 2nd annual Youth Mental Health Resource Fair at Burlington High School on Thursday November 13th from 5-7pm.
This event is sponsored by Clinical Psychology Associates, Irene Corzo and Associates LLC, Lake Geneva Wellness Clinic, Heartline Counseling and Consulting, Lake Geneva Psychology, Join the Movement to Stop Human Trafficking, My Time Counseling, Bloom360 Learning Community and Evidence Based Counseling.
Come learn about self-care, mental health counseling options, suicide prevention, community resources, holistic health programs, and parenting supports. Over 30 mental health, wellness, and referral agencies are registered to attend to speak with families and share information.
Attend a presentation about safety guidance for self-harm and suicidal ideation, social media and protecting children in a digital world, talking about mental health with your daughter, participate in a mindfulness session or yoga, and learn about self-regulation tools and how to create a care map.
Enjoy sub sandwiches donated by Kwik Trip, pizza donated by Casey’s, and water and chips donated by Costco and Woodman’s. For dessert, enjoy a cookie donated by Blackbird Bakery, (all food and water while supplies last).
Before you leave, take a selfie at the selfie station, make a friendship bracelet, grab a stress goodie bag (while supplies last) and try to win a door prize from businesses such as Adventure Rock, Battle House MKE, Emagine Entertainment, Milwaukee Admirals, Milwaukee County Zoo, East Troy Electric Railroad, Portillo's, Racine County Zoo, Milwaukee Brewers, Maxwell Mansion, and Pizza Ranch.
Roscoe, the mascot from the Milwaukee Admirals, as well as BASD’s two therapy dogs, will also be in attendance for short periods of time to greet children and families (availability can be subject to change). We understand that many families in the community rely on Wisconsin's FoodShare Program to help meet household food needs. The members of the Youth Mental Health Resource Fair committee want to help ensure every family in our community has access to local support and information during this time of uncertainty. If you would like to support these families, please bring a non-perishable food or hygiene item to the event. We will have collection boxes available. All donations received will go to Love Inc, the local food pantry in our immediate area.
